Distinguishable from their male counterparts mainly by their slightly softer facial features and a more conal-looking cranium, female Greys are actually the main driving force behind the species’ avid pursuit of scientific advancement. They are also responsible for streamlining the species into its two major scientific and spiritual sects, and whilst the Greys have remained close-mouthed about the rationale for this, the general consensus among Federation Zoologists is that it allows the species to develop both spiritually and technologically whilst limiting the potential for major conflict between the two.
Although the Greys have been reticent about demonstrating any of the inner workings of their society to outsiders, a small number of neonatal experts have, on several occasions, been granted access to the facilities where offspring are conceived. Their reports on what they saw indicate a stark division between the raising of male and female Greys, with female-designated embryos being left to mature in bio-vats for much longer. There is some speculation that the maturation time is what determines the biological sex of the resultant offspring, though this remains unconfirmed.
The calculative mind of the female Grey makes them a powerful ally or adversary in a variety of scenarios, including Battledome matches. Numerous victories have been secured by employing female Greys to lead teams that would otherwise stand little chance of success, as their ability to extract the maximum potential of a team’s strengths whilst exploiting the weaknesses of the opposition, is unrivaled.
