Biographical Summary[]
Being one of the more advanced races, the Greys had a well-established spacefaring peacekeeping division long before they joined the ranks of the Federation. Trained using the expertly refined evidence-based regimes of the science sect, intertwined with the social rituals and practices of the spiritual sect, the Peacemakers remain instrumental in settling disputes on the Federation frontier planets before they grow into larger, more widespread issues. Primarily skilled negotiators, they are nonetheless a physical force to be reckoned with, capable of putting their extensive combat training to use should diplomacy fail to achieve a peaceful outcome.
There are also numerous accounts of Peacemakers engaging in what are officially termed as “aggressive negotiations” - that is, upon arrival at an arranged negotiatory meeting between aggrieved parties, they immediately kill one or more of the leaders and then negotiate a peaceful solution with newly appointed leadership. It is thought that this is the origin of the adage:From time to time, Peacemakers have been known to participate in Battledome matches, though their motivation for joining remains the subject of much speculation. Some think that it is a simple way of maintaining their combat training acuity (whilst potentially providing a secondary income; the Greys are known to be stingy with wages).“Beware of Greys bearing gifts.”
