History[]

The twin-bladed, bearded axe has been a staple weapon of Nordic warriors for aeons. Initially crude blades attached with animal gut to fire-hardened branches of wood, the construction of the axe has been perfected over the centuries, and is now cast as a single piece from a refined, ritually blessed metal alloy that gives it incredible durability. The Nordic clansmiths on Magor identified an opportunity to market these axes to the wider Federation community, and created a mass producible version using a lower quality alloy and forgoing the ritual blessing. The result is the Standard Issue Axe, a simple and durable weapon that does the job of hacking and slashing enemies passably well.

When it comes to Battledome matches, the blades of this axe are sheathed in padded leather to prevent them from fatally wounding contestants during battle. However, a solid blow from one can still do appreciable damage, with numerous instances of losing participants being treated for blunt force trauma.
