Very few Nordics make it what they consider old age owing to the fact that combat is enshrined in the spiritual belief system that has guided their race for millennia. Those who do reach the upper echelons of the age spectrum are revered as the most powerful and wisest of warriors, having faced many foes without ever meeting their superior in battle.
Their counsel is instrumental in guiding the various Nordic clans, and even clan Leaders defer to their judgement regarding matters deemed worthy of requesting their advice on. In spite of their retirement from their respective clans’ battle rosters and the life of relative luxury that they are afforded, the Wise Ancient Ones are still wont to keeping their combat skills well-honed. Only an idiot would take on one of these elders thinking that their advanced age makes them an easy target.
